BorderFlow.
Turning border traffic footage into information people can use to understand their crossings.
The problem
Unpredictable border waits affect everyday life in the El Paso–Juárez region. BorderFlow explores how camera data, computer vision, and a web dashboard can make crossing conditions easier to understand.
My contribution
I built the full technical system for our team project, connecting data collection, vehicle detection, a database, and a dashboard into one workflow.
- Developed a Python pipeline to collect frames from public traffic-camera streams.
- Used YOLOv8 to detect vehicles and connected counts to Supabase/PostgreSQL.
- Prepared traffic imagery for model training and built a web dashboard displaying four crossings.
